So as I said, my trip was absolutely amazing. I wrote this amazingly long entry explaning it in lots of detail…although it gets shorter and shorter as the days go on cause I am tired. So read, but it’s long so I doubt anyone really will…pics coming soon.
Here’s the shpeal…
6/7-
We left Tallahassee and flew to JFK, then to Madrid, and that was like a 6 and a half hour flight. It was long but definitely worth it.
6/8
We arrived in Madrid eventually, and then we proceeded to take another flight to Malaga (after getting my first stamp in my passport) It was a really short flight and we all passed out. I think we all were drugged or something. So we got to Malaga and was picked up by our tour director Francisco. Then we went to our hotel. Our hotel was soo cute. Very Spanish. Then we went to the beach. I went swimming in the Mediterranean Sea! It was so beautiful. The water was really pretty and the setting was amazing, just next to mountains. Then we went back to the hotel ate a really disgusting dinner and some pretty good wine (although I decided I didn’t want any wine the rest of the trip) and then we went to an Internet café. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, considering I was on a cot. I roomed with Lindsey Ellison, Andrea Kelly and Michelle Hyzy, and I might as well have been rooming with Greg Hyzy because he was almost always in our room. We discovered the Beday (I have no idea how to spell it…) we watched our feet in it and shaved in it. It was quite convenient I want one in my house.
6/9
We drove to the coast and boarded a ferry for morocco. Once we got there we met our tour guide for the day. Abdelouahid Nadi. Well we just called him Abdoul and he wanted us to call him Michael Douglas. He claims that he looks like him. We took a bus around Morocco and stopped randomly on the side of the road and rode camels. It was Awesome! I rode a camel! Anyways. Then we walked around this market and saw Morocco life. Then we went to this pharmacy and learned about their herbs and medicines. Then we ate lunch. It was rather gross I didn’t eat much but then we went to a rug shop. They showed us this huge pile of rugs and I ended up buying one for 80 euros. Then we made our way back to the ferry while being harassed by people to buy stuff. So we took the ferry back to Malaga (I got so sick on the ferries) And once we got back we went looking for food because we didn’t like the hotel food. We ended up finding this little irish pub (it was really good) and we made it back 15 minutes late for our curfew. But noone cared, so whatever. So that night we slept all of 3 hours or so. It was funny, we stayed up like all night laughing hysterically.
6/10
We took to bus to Sevilla (Seville for us Americaners) It was so beautiful there. We met Paco our tour guide of the day and he showed us the royal palace and the Cathedral of Sevilla. Apparently the Cathedral there is arguably the largest in the world. It is so pretty and has the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Then we ate lunch and we ate at another irish pub. Then since Francisco lives in Sevilla he showed us around. And after we walked what seemed to be thousands of miles we got to our hotel. It was the nicest hotel that we stayed at the whole trip. It was really nice. So we ate dinner and then got ready to go on the boat. Only some people went on the boat because it cost extra. Well we got on and Anne Marie, Jennifer, Sarah, Greg, and Me sat up top with the adults because downstairs with all the teenagers was too hot. So we sat down and then they called up all the people from the USA and we got up and started doing the Macarena.
Then we sat down and the lady was like lets get drunk and have fun. And these people start dancing around this huge urn pouring in fruit juices and alcohol and call it Sangria. So we went up and got some, it was really really good. So we decided to engage in the broom game, which goes very much like hot potato. Well greg ended up winning and he won a bottle of champagne… needless to say we drank it in about 5 minutes..it was sooooo good. Francisco taught us a toast..Arriba, Abaho, Al Centro, Ybadentro. So we danced and drank…and the one glass of wine with dinner rule went out the window. I had 4 glasses of Sangria and a glass of wine….i was stumbling a bit when I got back in the room but it was all worth it. Francisco showed us flamenco dancing, and it was exciting, he was really good at it. He also drank A LOT!!! Then we walked back to the hotel.
6/11
We boarded the bus to leave Sevilla but in the process we witnessed a guy masturbating naked in his window taking pictures of our bus..it was disturbing, yet sooo funny. So we took the bus to Cordoba and walked around, went through the mosque and then kept going to Madrid. We checked into our hotel then went walking around the city and found the best shop ever. I bought a purse, hair clip, shoes, and earrings.
6/12
we went on a tour of Madrid, saw the prado museum and then we ate dinner at this pizza place, interesting experience, then Lindsey and I went looking around the city for an open shop, and proceeded to get a little lost so we retraced our steps. Then we came back to the hotel and andrea got mad at us cause we wouldn’t go and get alcohol with her.
6/13
We left Madrid, took the bus to Zaragoza and then to Barcelona. Once we got to Barcelona and climbed the huge ass hill to our hotel we were dead so we decided to stay in. Well Francisco called and told us to be downstairs at 10:15 if we wanted to go to the disco (a club) so lindsey and I got dressed in lightning speed.and we met Francisco downstairs. We took the metro to the club and went to this jazz club. We got some drinks and hung out. I had a beer and martini with limon. It was soo good. Lindsey decided to race Francisco, well she had 1 martini and 3 malibus (she spent like 34 euros) and Francisco drank 2 beers and a dark rum with limon (which is a really really good drink, it’s no wonder that’s his favorite drink) she won, and got rather drunk. We also learned that when you cheers someone you say salut and if you don’t look them in the eyes you will have 7 years of bad sex. So we made our way back to the hotel and went to sleep.
6/14
We went on a bus tour of the city, saw this amazing park designed by Gaudi. Then we went shopping in the center for 4 hours. Awesome stores. I really love European fashion , especially the guys. Tighter pants =) then we went back to the hotel and got dressed for flamenco. Then at dinner we talked to Francisco a long time and he told us lots of stories about his experiences……
*dick steak, awnus, alberto, synonyms for dick, tower, you fucking bitch, I’m handsome.*
So then we went downstairs to go to flamenco but the bus never showed…so we went to the next show and it was cool but not what I thought it was going to be. I was expecting what Francisco did. I saw lots of hookers and transvestites.lol.
6/15
We drove to france, we stopped in carcossone, this castle fortress, and we shopped and looked around, then we drove to Toulouse to board the night train. The night train was horrible, it was soo small. Greg decided he was going to a flip in the small space we had and it was just not good.
6/16
We got to Paris and immediately started taking a bus tour. We saw Notre dame, the city and we stopped in front of the Eiffel tower for pictures. Then we ate lunch and shopped. Then we went back to the hotel by metro and hung out at our horribly shitty hotel. Well then greg realized that he left his 300$ translator at pizza hut so we navigated our way to pizza hut using the metro by ourselves and we made it back in one piece!!!! I was so proud of us. Then we went to dinner and then to Montmartre. That was where all the artisans hung out. We saw Socre Couer. It was cool, then we saw the Moulin rouge. It was on this street with hundreds of sex shops and live shows…interesting. Then back to the shitty hotel.
6/17
We saw 2 castles and chartre cathedral. It was cool but not worth the horrible drive with no air conditioning. Then we came back and ate dinner, bonded with Francisco some and all that jazz, we introduced his to germ-x. Then we went to the Tour Eiffel. 6 of us went to the top of the Eiffel tower and everyone else went o a boat ride and did their own thing. Then when we got back to the hotel we found out that that morning Tom Cruise had proposed to Katie Holmes on the Eiffel Tower. It was kinda cool. Then on the metro back we were on it with a bunch of drunk guys out for a bachelor party. They were singing and carrying on like crazy.
6/18
We went to the louvre, and the mona lisa was really disappointing. It was very small and this HUGE crowd of people were around it. Then we went to Versailles. When we ate lunch there Lindsey, greg , rashida, and this texas girl and I looked at the nudy cards Lindsey bought. Then we went back to the hotel and went out and bought stuff for Francisco’s birthday. It is actually tomorrow. We bought him a big can of Heiniken, and 4 bottles of lemon alcohol things, a tiara, a cake and made him cards. Then we went to dinner, and then back to the hotel. Well Lindsey Greg and I finished our birthday gift and knocked on his door (his room was next door to ours) with a cake with lit candles. He read his cards and gave us hugs then we went downstairs. We drank, ate cake, and talked for about 2 hours. It was so nice. A very memorable night. We didn’t find out what tattoo he has, but if we go back to Spain…then he said we will find out.
6/19
We left. I was really sad to go. I didn’t want to leave, and I especially didn’t want to leave Francisco. We had a 3 hour delay in De gaulle (Paris) and then missed our Atlanta connecting flight in JFK so we got put on another then they over booked it and only 6 of us came home that day, and we all thought we were going to die on that flight. But we made it even after maintnance problems…
