Summary: Happy birthday, Shishido.
"What's that?"
Shishido stared at the wrapped object Kabaji was holding in front of him. It seemed small and circular, reminding him of Valentine's Day, even if it was more professionally and elaborately wrapped than the chocolates he amassed. Atobe stood smirking beside him, arms folded across his chest.
"It's your birthday present," came the matter-of-fact reply. "What else would it be, Shishido?"
"My birthday was two days ago." He rolled his eyes as he regarded the small gift warily. "And you already tried to give me a present."
"Which you so rudely rejected." Atobe sounded indignant as his eyes narrowed. "This is perhaps, more suited to your tastes."
"The issue wasn't a matter of taste, it was a matter of sanity." Frowning, Shishido took the object being offered to him via Kabaji. At least it was small - solid - and not likely to explode at him in purple ruffles and sparkles. "You don't give a friend a fucking car." Returning that particular one had been the hardest part.
"We aren't just friends." The self-satisfied reply made Shishido want to wipe the smug look off Atobe's face. He considered protesting, but the argument was getting old and lame. Besides, it was sometimes easier to let Atobe keep his delusions. "Now, open it."
"Yeah, yeah." Pulling the ribbon off, he tore viciously into the shiny wrapping paper. To reveal a rock. "You... got me a rock."
"Not just any rock. Kabaji picked it up himself from mother's garden."
A blank look stole across Shishido's face. "You're unbelievable."
This reaction seemed to appease Atobe as he brushed a few loose strands of Shishido's hair behind his ear. It was growing out again, but not long enough to be out of the annoying stage and into a state where he could easily pull it back. "Now you can't say I never gave you anything."
Sighing, Shishido crammed the rock into his backpack. "C'mon, we're going to be late for practice."
"Kabaji."
"Usu."
