Pansy was startled when Neville threw his book on the table. She'd been watching him struggle, trying to work out what it was he was missing in his wand movements. His incantation sounded correct, so she assumed either he was distracted, or that his wrist was betraying him.

Scooting closer, she patted his shoulder. "Watch me do it again, Neville," she smiled before waving her wrist and saying the incantation. She glanced over at him, watching him concentrate. She'd need to stop doing that, the glancing and watching, soon enough, or she'd be in even bigger trouble.

Putting Neville out of her mind had become more and more difficult. In the past, any crush she had developed faded rather quickly, or at least lessened with time, but her attraction to Neville seemed to take on a life of its own. It was entirely inappropriate, and even more inconvenient. Still, she couldn't help looking forward to time spent with him.

He'd closed his eyes when he'd leaned back. Neville had been lost in his thoughts and had felt Pansy shifting but he hadn't realized she'd moved closer. The couch was a good size for two people with room between them, but there wasn't really room for a third. Since there wasn't a lot of extra room on the couch he probably wouldn't have noticed she was closer now if she hadn't touched him.

Neville opened his eyes and turned his head toward where she was patted his shoulder. There is was again jasmine and... "This is a newer scent. It's floral, but not so strong," she said, holding up a sample of Jasmine and Lily oil. "I wear this one, if you want to smell it on someone. The scents are often different when worn," she said indicating the inside of her wrist

Neville certainly seemed distracted, and before she knew what was happening, he was on the other side of the room.

Maybe he hadn't wanted her to help him? Maybe he thought she was mocking him. That didn't seem like something Neville would think, not when she'd helped him in the past, but maybe she'd been condescending this time and hadn't realized it.

"Let me know if you need a hand, then," she said before turning back to her books.

Neville really did try to get it right. He was sure this would be one of the charms they would have to demonstrate on the practical. He focused his attention again but no luck. He needed to stop worrying about jasmine and start worrying about this blasted spell. To do that he needed her help with the wand movement. To ask for her help, he needed to stop being an idiot. At least temporarily.

"Pansy?" he asked softly. "I'm still not getting it. Would you mind showing me one more time? Please?"
