A Weapon of Massive Consumption

This new Lily Allen song won't leave me alone. Why am I such a sucker for the mainstream? *ugh* Oh well. Will have to pick up the album next month. Or maybe look for a torrent of the advance.

Nice! I heard this on the radio the other day but wasn't sure if it was her or the other English girl that got popular at the same time. Thanks for reminding me about it. :D

Do they play her on the radio in MN? The only other song I ever heard here was LDN, but I first of her on SNL awhile ago.

...I guess my point there was I wouldn't consider her "mainstream" but maybe that's just wishful thinking. *laugh*

That's a good point. The radio station I listen to out here it pretty awesome. In fact they have streams if you're ever inclined. I've been exposed to a wide variety of artists thanks to them.

The song itself is pretty pop. Yet the way she puts it together grabs me.

What other girl were you thinking of? Hopefully not Amy Winehouse. You'd be the third friend to confuse them and they're quite different.

No, not at all, though I do like Amy Winehouse. *laugh* At least, I like Back to Black, but not her first album.

It took some searching to finally figure this out, but I was thinking of Kate Nash. This is the song of hers I've heard, which I think is strikingly similar to Lily Allen in content, the kind of lyrics, and the way her voice sounds with the music. Maybe the rest of her album isn't so similar though:

Oh interesting… I can see how you likened them. I've got Kate's album and it's quite good. Like Nash for different reasons. Nicest Thing is amazing. And it's not Lily. I'd say Kate is more Folk/Indie while Lily is more Pop. Labels are so difficult to affix.
