I see that you have to offer/request a minimum of 2 characters per fandom. What happens with fandoms where only one character is nominated?

Also, do you allow "5 minute fandoms" (songs, artwork, tv ads, videos, etc?)

Thanks!

Last year we waited until those fandoms had at least two nominated characters before reviewing them. We made a post informing people about which fandoms were in danger of deletion ( ... )

I just subbed a handful of nominations, two of my three fandoms nominated have less than 100 fics on AO3 in total, regardless of character so those are pretty straightforward. I also nominated Jane Foster from MCU; from my searching on AO3 she has 1019 fics fitting the guidelines out of MCU's total 58314 fics, which comes to like 1.7%.

Yes, there is no question about eligibiliy with small fandoms :)

The matter of Jane Foster is a strange one, however. Someone else also nominated her, but when I checked for "Jane Foster" under MCU, she had 2013 out of 32675 fics (we look at complete English-language 1000+ word fics for the whole fandom, too. Here's a picture of how we search.) But, when we look for "Jane Foster (Marvel)" the result is the 1019 fics you mentioned.

She would need less than 1634 fics to be eligible, so one can be approved, the other can't. I need to go over that with my co-mod.

Okie dokie, I leave it in your guys' capable hands! I find ao3 searching to be very finicky; I just did some more searches and even with the same parameters in the settings I got a slightly different number every time. *facepalm*

I nominated Acacia from Lost Girl, but the tag showed up as Acacia (Acacia (Toriko)), since there's no fic at all with her in it yet. Is there a way to change that?

Thank you for letting us know. We can change that manually. :)

Just nominated a bunch of stuff. Checked for under 250 works/complete over 1000 words. Wasn't sure how to check language, but these were all under anyhow. The only stuff that was close on counts:

Big Bang Theory -
Raj, just under 220
Howard, just under 200
everyone else less than that.

Stargate Atlantis -
Todd, 166

Star Trek Voyager -
Seven, just under 240
everyone else less.

Hope that helps.

Very much, thank you! We'll approve the Stargate and Star Trek characters as soon as we unbury them.

For future reference: here's a picture of how we look up stuff on AO3. :)

Ah. Not sure my results will be exactly the same. Went to the fandom page and searched for the character's name tag, set for complete, and sorted by word count - then thumbed through to see how many were over 1000.

Usually you end up with more results than if you filter via the search function, so no worries.
