Summary Taemin asks the SHINee members for advice on how to become more manly, Onew takes it upon himself to lend a hand.

Prompt: #7; Onew/Taemin; In a misguided attempt at a ~manly~ rite of passage, Onew takes Taemin to a strip club.

Taemin always knew that Jinki was a bit loopy. Funny and generally a nice person, but out of it in more ways than one. So when Kibum starts talking about how interviewers are always saying that Taemin has become known as the "girly member" in SHINee, when that was supposed to be Kibum's role, he gets a bad feeling in his stomach.

"You should do something to change this," Kibum says, poking Jinki with his fork.

Jinki jumps, his spoon flying up from his cereal bowl and smacking him in the nose. "Why me?" He whines, wiping his face with his sleeve.

"Because, you're the leader," Kibum says, giving him a significant stare. Taemin feels a twinge of annoyance because he is right there after all, spooning at his untouched Lucky Charms. He looks up to find Kibum glaring at him, he barely resists smirking and tucks a long strand of hair behind his ear. Taemin feels like he's avenged some sort of pride that he lost after being forced to let Kibum "mother" him as he flounces out of the kitchen in rage.

But this "girly member" thing isn't something that Taemin wants to be known as anyways, so he asks Minho for advice because he's the most manly and charismatic of them all. Unfortunately, Minho is in the middle of a three way conversation with Donghae and Siwon. Taemin curses his bad timing and shuts the door against the abrupt shooing motion and Siwon-esque look of furrowed brows that is sent his way.

He tries Jonghyun next because Jonghyun always knows what do in any situation, even if the idea isn't a good one. In the morning while they're getting their hair done, he asks. "It's easy," Jonghyun says with his usual flair of confidence. "If you want a different image you just get a new hair style. After all, look at Kibum. He went from pretty boy to "bad-ass-loser" by just shaving half of his hair."

"Hey!" Kibum shouts, a flailing hand smacking Jonghyun in the shoulder. "What did you just say?"

Taemin purses his lips and fights the urge to protectively throw his arms over his hair. "But hyung, I don't want to shave my head."

Jonghyun shrugs, nursing his wounded shoulder. "Then you're going to become a woman." Taemin wants to point out that it would take a lot of surgery for that to happen, and then he realizes how much money SME has and how much they're willing to spend on the band's concepts each comeback.

Suddenly, Taemin is very, very afraid for his boyhood.

The only person he can ask about this and not feel ashamed is Jinki, because he always knows what to do in situations like this. He corners Jinki in the practice room that evening and hands him a bottle of water he swiped from the manager when he wasn't looking. Taemin watches Jinki sink to the floor and bring the bottle to his lips before he pops the ever pressing question.

"Hyung, help me become a man."

The effect is instantaneous, and he spends the next five minutes beating on Jinki's back. When Jinki can finally breathe again, he takes one look at Taemin and his face colors nearly purple to his ears. "Y-You want me to help you w-what?"

"Become a man," Taemin says, and Jinki (if possible) blushes even more and this time his face actually does become purple. "I mean because Jonghyun-hyung said that the company is going to make me into a woman because I'm too girly, so I want to become a man."

Jinki's face immediately looks relieved. "Oh, is that it?" He says.

"What were you thinking of?" Taemin's mouth drops open in disbelief. "Hyung I like being a man."

"Taemin-ah, the company can't give you a sex change just because you look like a girl," Jinki shoots a glare at Jonghyun, who's suddenly looking far too interested in his phone. Taemin feels a huge weight remove itself from his chest.

"Actually," Kibum says as he happens upon their corner to claim the water bottle, "the company pretty much owns you, so they can do whatever they want." Taemin glares at him because now that Jinki has said something he finds that he believes him more than any of the others because Jinki is simply not a dishonest person.

Nevertheless, the main problem is still there. There will always be the potential that Taemin will suddenly wake up and find that he's been made a girl over night (he knows this can't happen yet, but who knows what sort of secret technology the company has. They're very powerful, and very rich. He figures that they of all the companies in the world can afford the best secret evil genius scientists.

"Hyung," Taemin jabs Jinki in the ribs, clinging to his arm. "Please save me."

Taemin should have known not to ask Jinki for help, because Jinki ended up looking for advice online, and now Taemin was standing in line for a club with Jinki at his hip because his hyung found out that strip clubs will make anyone into a man.

Taemin had promptly put on as many layers as he could while still looking good. A jean jacket over a torn white shirt, over a black tank top, and torn jeans over leggings. He threw his long hair up behind his head. He can't help but hope to be turned away at the door because of how obviously underage he is, but his hope to be carded fails when Jinki flashed a fake ID for him (where he got it, he had no idea) and is ushered inside.

His eyes catch the stage, with an amazonian dark skinned woman strutting down the stage while her shirt falls to the ground behind her, and promptly tries to run away. Jinki grabs his hand and with a smile, and leads Taemin through the throng of people who are either dancing or gaping and takes him to the bar. He buys a drink for himself and a coke for Taemin.

"Uh, hyung," Taemin swallows, wanting to cry. "What are you doing?" Jinki pours half of his drink into Taemin's coke. Jinki's hand is hot as it pulls him onto a stool.

"Don't worry Taemin-ah," he says, pressing the mixed drink into Taemin's sweaty hands. "This will make you a man!"

Taemin pulls a face at the smell of the drink, but his desire to remain a man is enough influence, and he takes a swig. He nearly chokes, but manages to slam the rest of it down somehow, even though he wants to throw it all back up because alcohol isn't gross. He hopes there aren't any fans here to witness this night. Jinki hands him a glass of water after he finishes and Taemin downs it as fast as possible to get the gross taste out of his mouth.

"What was in that?" He leans in to ask, but when Jinki answers there was a huge roar from the audience.

Looking over, Taemin saw that the great tall amazonian woman had shed her pants. Taemin's face drains of color. The stage has lit up, and he sees small cubicles covered with a red paper. When the light shined over them, there are shadows of people shedding their clothes with the most provocative of poses. When he looks over at Jinki, he notices the wide eyed look of one who doesn't want to be here, either, and wishes that he would just call he whole thing off.

But then Jinki mixes him another gross drink and makes him down that, too. One more follows that before Jinki finally hands him a water. Then he leads him to the side stage, where he puts Taemin in the hands of another lady who shouldn't be nearly as tall as she is. "He wants to become a man," is all Jinki says before the lady whisks Taemin away.

The alcohol must be hitting him by now, or something, because Taemin is all too agreeable to leaving with this other lady. Jinki's hand lingers for a moment before he is whisked away, down a long dark hallway, stumbling and tripping. The next thing he knows, he's standing on the side of the stage, and one of the Amazonians leans down to his eye level.

"What song do you want to do this to?" She asks, and he blurts out Lucifer because that's the only song he can remember right now. The woman nods, "don't forget to strip, head down, don't go full monty but make them think that you are."

Even with alcohol in his veins, Taemin's mouth goes dry. The lady hands him a drink, and makes him down it, too. He's still gagging on the taste when she thumps him in the chest hard so that he stumbles out onto the stage, trips over his feet, and falls on his butt. He manages to pull himself up to his feet, even when the world is sort of reeling under his feet. He stares at the crowd, searching out Jinki's face. When he finds it, his heart starts beating quickly. He's not sure if he's mad or if it's the alcohol talking, but he wishes there had been another way to become a man.

Then Lucifer starts to play, and Taemin quickly starts to dance along, body sharp and moves just as strong as always. Except this time, he sheds his clothes, first the jean jacket goes flying somewhere downstage. He's swaggering down the stairs and tearing his shirt next, so that it comes apart at the premade holes and shreds to the floor. By the time the second chorus comes along, Taemin has locked his eyes with Jinki's and his slowly pulling his black tank top up over his head.

Sweat trickles down the side of his neck and keeps going down his naked back, and he knows he needs to be taking off his pants while Minho's rapping. He struts to the edge of the stage right in front of Jinki, and drops to his knees. He doesn't really know what he's doing anymore when he catches his hyung's chin with one hand and his hand in the other. His lips crash onto Jinki's--alcohol staining his breath and heart hammering away in his chest. Something's making him tight, something's making him want to do this, what, he doesn't know.

He squirms his hips and brings Jinki's hand to the button of his jeans until he pops them for him, and then he pushes away. His jeans come off just as he's singing Loverholic, robotronic for the last time. His hair is falling around his face as he finishes the dance, in only his underwear and his socks. He automatically looks for Jinki, only to see that he's disappeared.

Backstage, they give him his jacket, and his jeans, but he doesn't get the chance to put them on, because the next thing he knows, Jinki is there, crashing his lips to Taemin's. His hands grip Taemin's hips and pull him close. His heart flutters a little and his fingers grip Jinki's shirt. "Hyung, am I a man now?" He feels tired now, like all the adrenaline killed whatever had happened out there.

Jinki's fingers stroke Taemin's long hair and the feeling is so comfortable that he can't help but forgive him for everything that just happened. "Yes," he says, "of course you are." Taemin's eyes flutter closed, his last thought being one of hope, that he'd forget all this the next morning.

But he doesn't. He remembers acutely every detail, and when he opens his eyes the light hurts like a sword stabbing his eyes. He groans and makes to turn over, but he bumps something warm, which groans too and moves away. Sitting up, Taemin hides a scream, because Jinki is in his bed, stealing all the covers and nearly falling off the bed. He unsticks himself from the sheets (and realizes that he's also been stripped down to his boxers). His jacket and jeans are hanging over the headboard--a shining beacon of reminder of last night, which runs through his mind with all too much clarity.

His mouth feels funny as he showers off and dresses in a hurry. The dorm is quiet--everyone is still asleep. He purses his lips at his long hair and realizes that last night was for nothing after all--he still looks more like a girl, teetering on the edge of losing his manhood. He ties his hair up into a ponytail and nods knowing what he has to do. He finds his phone and makes a call on his way out the door.

Jinki's drinking half the carton of milk when Taemin returns. Jonghyun is the first one that sees him, and he nearly kills himself when he chokes on his cereal. "Oh my god," Kibum gapes when he notices him. Jinki's mouth is still full when he looks, too. He stares at Taemin's newly chopped hair and smug smile and he sprays the contents of his mouth all over the kitchen counter and Kibum.

"You cut it!" He exclaims over Kibum, who's cursing all of his ancestors.

"Yeah," Taemin says, getting a bowl from the cabinet and filling it with lucky charms. Jinki leans in and fluffs his hair; it's light and easy to play with. He grins.

"I like it," and Taemin can't help the heat that rises to his cheeks. He figures that last night wasn't so bad after all, at least not when Jinki's hand is resting on the small of his back. All he can remember for an instant is that alcohol induced kiss while he leaned off of the stage, with the crowd roaring at him and throwing won at him. He smiles and turns his head, the soft of his lips catching Jinki's cheek just for an instant before he pulls away.

For as loopy as Jinki might be, he's still a good leader, and even though Taemin will never touch alcohol again, he figures it's okay if the memory remains. Now, when interviewers ask them why Taemin is becoming so manly, Jinki just replies that he's becoming a man.
