“Do you think we can really do this?” Pansy asked, looking at Hermione warily.
Hermione put her quill down and looked at Pansy. “Pansy, this is a Charms project. I’m sure we can get through this without killing each other.”
Pansy let out a laugh at her words. “Okay, I suppose you’re right and I’m being just a little bit dramatic.”
“A little bit?” Hermione quipped back with an arched brow.
“Okay, let’s not push it, our temporary truce is just that… temporary,” Pansy murmured.
“Just because Draco and Harry hate each other doesn’t mean we need to,” Hermione pointed out.
“Let’s just get started on this group project,” Pansy said, her cheeks turning slightly pink.
If Hermione noticed, she didn’t say anything.
“Excellent job, Miss Granger and Miss Parkinson,” Professor Flitwick gushed once the two of them finished presenting their project. “Well done.”
“Thank you,” Hermione beamed. She looked at Pansy and smiled at her. “We nailed it,” she whispered before the two of them headed to their seats.
“Yeah, we did,” Pansy whispered back.
The rest of the class went by in a blur, and Hermione found herself trying to think of ways that she could get Pansy to spend more time with her. Truthfully, she had gotten used to Pansy’s sarcastic and dry wit.
When class dismissed, she hurried after Pansy, wanting to snag her between the two of them parted ways once more. “Hey, Pansy!” she called out.
Pansy stopped, turning to look at Hermione. “Oh, hi,” she murmured.
“Hey, I…” Hermione cleared her throat. “Hogsmeade weekend is coming up.”
A little smirk appeared on Pansy’s face. “Yeah, it is.”
“Do you… Do you like Butterbeer?”
“I do.”
Hermione wanted to shake her head. She was messing this up. “Will you go with me? To get a Butterbeer?” she said, finally got the words out.
“Sure, meet you at Three Broomsticks for one?”
“Yeah, that sounds good,” Hermione said, smiling as her heart raced in her chest.
“See you then, Hermione.” Leaning forward, she boldly brushed her lips against Hermione’s cheek. With a blush-filled glance, Pansy turned and headed down the hall to join her friends.
