A/N: thank you, my lovely recipient, for giving me this idea! I sincerely hope that you like Adventure Time, because this piece is based on the two of its main characters, Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, but with their official genderbent form names, as Marshall Lee (sexy vampire that eats not blood, but the colour red itself) and Prince Gumball (with particular Bubblegum's traits). I hope that this would be a sort of entertaining crossover for the fans of the cartoon, and a fun read for the TaoSoo shippers ;A; (if it doesn't make much sense, it's fine, because adventure time never makes much sense ;)

The fluorescent red droplets of the cyanide butter cream concoction steadily fell into the timely prepared test-tube, as Kyungsoo stooped over the measuring vials in his laboratory. Covered from head to toe, with a purple turtleneck that smothered his neck, and hot pink rubber gloves, huddled into his spotty tulip overall, Kyungsoo carefully continued to pour the explosive liquids inside the pot with poisonous custard, determined to finally complete his creation. Having wasted three days and two nights on the deadly invention, unaware of the fact that his whole Candy kingdom had begun mourning the loss of their dearest prince to science, Kyungsoo was stepping up to devising what could possibly become one of his most dangerous weapons.

It was his executive prerogative to secure the inhabitants of his dessert land against the possible ravenous attacks of the Evil powers which could come from unexpected places, at unexpected times of day and night. The fate of his Candy Kingdom continued to put Kyungsoo out of his already so poorly balanced mental state of tranquility, making the prince feel concerned with happenings that the future could hold for him and his loyal subjects. He had become sullen, cute narrow shoulders hunched under the weight of his serious thoughts; his face had become so serious, lips losing the attractive heart-shaped smile, his eyes sunken from deep worry.

Isolated from the whole world by the mental cocoon of his calculations, too driven to be able to tell the times of days and nights apart, Kyungsoo was too focused to pay heed to any outward things and sounds, his only existing reality being the bulbous tubes of red death that he continued to diligently fill up and place on the table of apricot wood in careful glistening rows. Distracted as he was holding up the vial with toxic vanilla essence over the spinning pot, Kyungsoo only shivered as a sudden gust of cold wind hit his back, never noticing one of the bottles of blood colour disappear from the collection a fleeting second later.

Abstracted as he carefully pressed on the measuring pipette to add the last drop of bacterial sugar syrup, assured that he was alone in his personal sanctuary of scientific research, in the next moment he was deafened by most unexpected slurping sounds coming from above, followed by the noise of shattering glass and bloodcurdling choking wheezes as the invisible culprit struggled to breathe. Alarmed and frightened out of his concentrated state of mind, Kyungsoo dropped the pipette with deathly syrup into the swirling mix which immediately changed its perfect color to a nasty shade of lilac.

The heart-rending spitting noises continued coming from somewhere high above, and so Kyungsoo raised his head, hurriedly adjusting his wired round glasses that had slipped down to the very tip of his sweaty nose; as the shaken prince caught a good glimpse of the coughing figure that was desperately clutching at his coral chandelier, the feeling of greatest relief overcame his exhausted body, and he collapsed onto the nearest stool. For a second there, his greatest fears had managed to win over his trained collected mind, and he had started to panic, tricked into thinking that enemies chose to strike him when he was still so unpardonably unprepared.

As the shivering person on the then dangerously lopsided chandelier released the last series of pained moans, finally breathing out their last a moment later, a lifeless body hanging off the candelabrum, Kyungsoo could only find it in himself to sigh deeply. The prince resignedly looked at the shattered bottle of his ruined poison, former vibrant red now spilt in a grey puddle over the petal marble floor.

“Hey, you can at least try and act like you care, SooSoo. Your bane could have killed me just now,” the uninvited grouchy guest then dropped his poor death act and sprang back to life as he stared down at the prince’s hunching timid body and sullen face; the other was showing no visible acknowledgement of the guest’s presence in the room. “Good for you that I’m already dead, right? Vampire king can’t die twice, I’m that great…”

The man jumped off the chandelier, flying over to hover over Kyungsoo’s laboratory table, curiously peeking into boiling up pots and pans, grimacing as his eyes caught a sight of the neat red rows of the prince’s new creation. “What did you mix up into that thing, it tasted worse than the food that Ice King Xiumin’s pet deer cooks…”

“Zitao Lee, I see you still haven’t lost your habit of showing up unannounced at worst timings and making messes out of others’ belongings. Good to see you, such a pity you need to leave so soon, goodbye, close the window on your way out, be so kind?” Kyungsoo grumbled into his palms, as he rubbed his own face, royal etiquette and good manners forgotten when he found himself dealing with the vampire bandit thing, well-known for his trickster nature.

“I see that dear old Prince Gumball is in his best spirits today, my visit to an old friend is so timely,” the vampire smiled a mischievous smile, his still reddish fangs poking into the demon’s lower lip, as he flew over the room to gracefully stand near the depressive looking tiny royalty man.

“Tonight is a beautiful night, so I thought I would pay a visit to their important majesty, prince Gumball Kyungsoo. Plus, rumours are spreading that you have abandoned your subjects in favour of the unknown, and so I decided to put it upon myself to check up on you, SooSoo, and seeing this attractive unknown that demands so much of your attention with my own eyes,” Zitao self-lovingly sighed then and proceeded to adjust his newly acquired leather jacket that was supposed to blow everyone’s mind off, and flicked a non-existent dust atom from his fantastic bleached hair; still rendered with no glances, the vampire coughed in a pointed manner, demanding the needed attention to his regal looks.

“Who said you could come into the Candy Kingdom and eat my colours without permission?” Begrudgingly Kyungsoo raised his head, his usually strategically murderous stare from behind half-closed eyes then magnified by the glasses, so the adorable view of two saucer-like orbs made Zitao burst out laughing in a childishly boisterous manner, as the vampire boy stuck a finger at the other’s funny looking face and clutched at his stomach.

“Stop cackling,” quick at hiding the glasses with very thick lens into the pocket of his overall, the piece usually saved for his private times, Kyungsoo got up from his forced resting position and pushed the giggling vampire away. But as he made his way back to the table, he had to release a loud groan of exasperation as the supposedly red concoction was bubbling up into a sick shade of deep purple. “Oh, dear, now I will have to start over again, all because of you and your useless behaviour! Three days of work, of no rest, no sleep and barely any food, all wasted!”

Zitao breezed past the grieving prince, as he threw a single disinterested look at the other’s seemingly important wasted work; the unknown turned out to be another boring scientific invention just as he had secretly assumed. Zitao towered over stiff Kyungsoo, grabbing the other’s shoulder, distracting the scientist from over calculating the scale of caused damage. “SooSoo, your head is so smart, you’ll fix everything in no time.”

Zitao’s careful cold fingers then pulled on emerged in thoughts Kyungsoo’s chin to force him to look up as he glanced down into the Gumball prince’s orbs, widened from the shock at the vampire’s proximity. Obedient from the exhaustion and fresh mental trauma, Kyungsoo stared into the other’s demonic eyes, as Zitao’s black pupils started gradually fading into the frozen colour blue. “But I can see that what you really need now, my friend, is sleep. Some beauty sleep will help you think better and help you get rid of those nasty spots on your nose, what a non-prince-ly thing, my goodness.”

Kyungsoo was suddenly hit with a strange feeling of light headedness; the mesmerized prince felt as if his focused mind and neat thoughts started slipping away from him, the stress of the past few days floating outside the vacuum inside his head. Heavy with an unexpected desire to fall into his bed and let the delicious sleep take over him, Kyungsoo grabbed Zitao's leather lapels in an attempt to save his connection with reality, as his eyelids started to droop.

"Are you... by any... chance... hypnotizing me?" His tongue felt like cotton in his dry mouth, but Kyungsoo still managed to find it in his powers to mumble out the question to the devilishly smiling vampire king.

Zitao firmly gripped Kyungsoo's relaxed shoulders then, steadying the prince, as he became pliant in the other’s arms, his knees giving away. As if deep underwater, Kyungsoo could hear the far away dull sound of Zitao's throaty chuckle, as Kyungsoo felt the vampire’s humid breath on his cheek, cold misty fingers making a quick work at tugging his turtleneck away to reveal the blossom skin. A second later, and the monster thing was mumbling something, the suspicious whisper then followed by a deafeningly loud hissing sound.

Kyungsoo was immediately shaken out of his floating reverie, bewildered eyes flying open, as he released the other’s lapels and slapped Zitao over his cheek, making the hissing vampire of unseeing blue eyes and big protruding fangs come back to his senses and cough in surprise at the sudden attack. Caught unawares in an unguarded moment, lulled into the fake sense of safety by the demon, mere seconds into feeling like he could finally give up the struggle for some small period of time, Kyungsoo was furious then as he started to push his small fists against the seemingly embarrassed vampire’s chest, making the other move towards the huge open window.

“Zitao Lee, how dare you! You impolite lout!”

“SooSoo, it’s just a habit, was a mistake coming here hungry, besides it’s your fault for smelling so delicious of cream puffs and apples, and even if I bit you, it’s not like you can die, SooSoo, come on…” Zitao was jabbering, sounding breathless, as he was forced to take awkward stumbling steps backwards because Kyungsoo kept poking his boney fists into the vampire’s ribs, loudly insisting that the peace-destroyer needed to leave.

“And don’t you call me SooSoo, you problematic child,” the troubled Prince Gumball remarked huffily as the last finishing thought, shoving the flailing yelping vampire out of the window, watching perplexed Zitao reflexively turn into a big demonic bat, his black wings swinging around, creating little messy storms of wind inside Kyungsoo’s immaculate laboratory room.

“Oh, excuse you, your majesty, but I’m older than you by at least a couple of centuries, and you know it well enough, because I actually look better than you, and the fact bothers the zest out of you, I know,” Zitao the bat hissed out the biting words in a hollow voice, his little muzzle frowning as he restlessly continued to fly around the narrow tower window, fruitlessly wasting his strength as he tried to make a way back into the prince’s chambers. But determined Kyungsoo was in the middle of blocking the only source of moon light with many useless burgundy and rouge pillows and forgotten pieces of paper which could have once been Kyungsoo’s miscalculated plannings and wrongly supposed conditions with results to his past experiments.

“I can hear you no longer, vampire king, for I have departed to my laboratory for important work,” prince Gumball’s low voice then sounded muffled as the last view of him had disappeared behind the last pink pillow, perched on top of the small mountain of differently shaped cushions and superfluous pointy things. “Thank you for your visit, hoping to hear from you soon,” was mumbled, the poisonous hostility clear in the gloomy voice of the Candy Kingdom’s prince.

“You’re already in your laboratory, you wad,” Zitao snorted in amusement as his wings flipped and carried him up towards the shady side of the prince’s tower.

Much later, a few long tiresome hours into the heavy dark night, prince Kyungsoo was finally making his exhausted way up the seemingly endless tower, into his sleeping chambers, a few shaky breaths away from falling on his knees and crawling towards his goal, his wonderful pink bed with wonderful pink pillows, with fantastic pink canopy. Different shades of rosy colours intermingled in front of Kyungsoo’s watery bloodshot eyes, the usually familiar palette then clouded and forgotten, as the prince’s migraine continued to bother the wits out of his exhausted brain. In the deepest parts of his soul, somewhere in his tired brain, he was begrudgingly thankful to demonic charmer Zitao Lee for having ruined his project; if he had not turned up to cause a mess, so habitual to him, Kyungsoo would have probably died there, buried under the never-ending points of his scientific research which required new recalculating and better overthinking.

But as his heavy as a stale candy cone body finally touched the plush surface of the blanket, Kyungsoo immediately forgot about science and vampires, releasing a long relieved groan; just to distinctly hear as something slippery and gluey made an obnoxious squelching noise right under his back. As a weird liquid began to spread down his tulip clothes, Kyungsoo groaned in desperation and forced the leftovers of his strength into moving so that he could quickly pull the glasses out his pocket, and send a long confused look behind his back.

There, on one of his favourite poppy plates, lay many strawberries of suspicious unappetizing grey colour with a spotty blotchy note on top.

Like, when we used to be together, and I used to sneak you treats in the night. Take better care of yourself, you gum wad. Will come back tomorrow for more of that spicy mix you made today, it was yum.
P.S. sorry for the weird colour, I was hungry :3

For the first time in the past three days, Kyungsoo finally let a sincere smile touch his lips, as he closed his eyes and bit into the delicious grey flesh of the fruit; his dirty fingers smudged in strawberry juice dropped lifelessly on the way to the plate, as the prince of the Candy Kingdom finally slept in peace.
