I'd had this goal of getting the tents into storage before the end of the year, but that didn't happen, so I decided that I'd take advantage of this lovely weather to break them out of the car, wash them down, let them dry and pack them appropriately for storage. I even got amberite2112 to help me.

We unpack the little tent, put 2/3rds of it's poles in and stake it down, ready for washing

We turn the big tent over and stake it upside down for washing. I bring out two buckets of water, dump them and realize that it will be easier to do this if we remove the screen to the back/bathroom window and pass buckets in and out that way.

Now, at this point it's sunny and a little windy.

I send amberite2112 in the pull the screen. During this time the wind picks up precipitously and a large grey mass covers the entire sky from horizon to horizon in all directions. It's a half sphere of thunderboomer grey, by my reckoning. The wind tears the little tent off of it's stakes and I'm fighting with that when amberite2112 calls out that he's got the screen out. I say never mind and come out here and help pull things in.

So he does, comes to the exact same conclusion about the weather and we pull things in. As we do this the grey storm clouds blow out and in the five minutes (if that) it took us to haul everything inside, the nastiness was replace with gorgeous blue skies with white puffy clouds and much sunshine.

It's New England alright.
