glad to hear you got your licence back! ive never driven in the states [the idea terrifies me] but perhaps now ill give it a shot.
and i agree with your points. except the highway one. i like driving fast when its safe to do so. but people need to learn to drive in the right lane on the highway. sheesh.
a) Driving fast is fun. Also, I can't drive that slow. My foot's too heavy! Yeah, I'm sticking with that answer. There should be an IQ test for the ability to drive fast, though. And rules: slow down for intersections; slow down when there are other cars to consider; know your car and how it handles in all driving conditions and know how to correct for them - if you haven't practiced getting in and out of emergencies in icy parking lots, you shouldn't be driving fast in the rain, sleet, snow or dry; don't motherfucking weave, and don't be an asshole; only do what is safe when you consider all factors such as your driving ability, your car's abilities, traffic, weather, lighting, driving surface, and where you are; don't be a show-off, because that's just dangerous; obey all other rules of the road without question; be prepared for anything and never stop watching for it to happen. I'm sure there are more
( ... )
yeah i've experienced the high beams blinding me in my rear view... yeah you have good points there. about the fast driving- i don't think speed should be excessive even when it seems "appropriate", it's not, that's when anything could happen. Perhaps i'm just jaded because i was in a scary highway accident in april and lost my license for 3 month, but i think it's something everyone needs to think about...
lets learn from the americans??? You should see drivers in San Francisco! Holy jebus I feared for my life everytime we got in the car. They ranked worst drivers I've seen ... ever!! other then there and LA I've had lovely driving experiences in the states:)
but I agree. There are A LOT of really really REEALLY shitty drivers out there. I road a bike everywhere almost all last year and sweet jesus! again.... fearing for my life, especially when everyone is driving such huge couch mobiles these days ..err.. SUVs.
I've also never figured out why people have to speed up just to stop at stop light after stop light. I seem to keep up going my measly 50km everytime... I just don't have to pay for gas as often;)
yeah, i've heard LA is pretty horrid as far as drivers go..
but yes! finally someone who agrees with me! I posted this on another community and i got SUCH slack for... there were people that were actually arguing me about how they're justified speeding and cutting people off... then i started to think "maybe i'm just the overly cautious one" but no.. everyone else really IS an asshole driver... I bike sometimes too, but i would never depend on my bike to get me places, i see how cyclists are treated and i'd be way too scared to deal with that
It's because people kept forgetting about other people besides, oh, themselves. Vancouver needs to have a better sence of community and RESPECT! Theres no reason to cut someone off. and speeding?? I don't think ANYONE actaully takes into account how much time it takes them to get to their destination before they leave their house. It seems EVERYONES late for something and they just drive like tards to get there. ... and yeh. if you ever bike anywhere. use bike routes!!! Vancouver is good for that. The regular roads are just damn scary and I wouldn't want to see such a rad girl like you get shmucked.
