IP Man VS. Fe Man

May 18, 2010 01:22

My sister has dubbed it "IP Man 2 vs. Fe Man 2", and Ip Man 2 basically won. I mean, yeah, the Chinese chauvinism is kind of embarrassing, and the plot is basically the same as the first movie's i.e. transparently, laughably structured around the solitary purpose of letting Donny Yen hit as many people in as quick a succession as possible. But the ( Read more... )

Fe man?

I like Donnie Yen but I liked him better with the horse-like face in Hero. Is that what happened to his nose? (Is sad. Oh Michael Jackson, what have you wrought?)

Would you believe that my EIGHT year old boy's MT teacher reccomended Ip Man and Ip Man 2 as great films to take the kiddies to if I want them to appreciate more Mandarin? I'm still not sure I heard her right. ^_^ But Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung are pretty cool reasons to watch a film I have to admit.

*HUGS* how are you dear? Hope life is being good to you! Love!

Well, eight is a little young. But Ip Man's a gentleman, so there's little swearing. And by my (admittedly desensitised) standards it's not all that gory; Ip Man's more about control than anything. He doesn't need to hurt anyone to make a point, a lot of time he just stops short of connecting so the person has a moment of shocked realisation; "He could have put me in a world of pain, but didn't!"

But when they get going, things really go crunch. D:

Anyway I always prefer to see HK movies in Cantonese. Damn this Speak Mandarin campaign! DD:

I'm good! But sleepy! Time for bed I think. Is why I'm not online often; it's too fun and I'll never get to bed haha. How are you and the family?

Hmm I dunno ... I recall during CNY I took the children to see both 14 Blades and Little Big Soldier. ^_^

And really I should learn not to connect as well. The hardest thing to learn in mastering a weapon or martial art (as funnily enough bot my teachers, worlds apart. Well 15th C broadsword teacher and my Wushu Sifu) both say 'The hardest thing to learn is how to pull your blows/punches" To not connect even when you are swingin full force.

The family are fine now thank you. And yes I hope you get this in your in box LATER today after you've had some sleep.

Are you going to the Navy Open house next weekend? The Daddy is taking them so ... I'll have a free Saturday ... wanna meet up if you have some time free?
