Woxin 17-21 (spoilers)
Episode 19, scene in the snow by river of blood (clip here, about 8 minutes in) where Fan Li convinces Gou Jian to surrender: Ohhh Chen Daoming why are you so terribly distressingly beautiful ♥
Old Chancellor of Wu perceives correctly that Gou Jian cannot be broken and will one day rise in revenge, and tries in vain to make Fu Chai kill Gou Jian. Later to Head Consul of Wu he says something like "His Majesty thinks he can break Gou Jian. Killing an enemy king is no big deal, but this Gou Jian intrigues His Majesty. The more Gou Jian defies his comprehension, the more he wants to subjugate him."
D: How depressingly like a man. I expected better more complex and interesting from you, O Great and Eminent King of Wu. Please prove me correct in the next few episodes.
On women: Ya Yu is terrific (Mary Sue? Maybe, but I like her), Yuan Luo is terrific but a little melodramatic (OMG 雅魚 & 鳶羅, 鳶飛戾天 魚躍于淵 match made in heaven Y/N?), Tang Li is strangely compelling, but Xi Shi irritates me. For no good reason I can discern. (And no it's not because Fan Li falls for her later, I don't do "the vixen is breaking up my favourite ship boo hiss.") Possibly it's the girlish voice and wide-eyed innocence, which are not good reasons at all but strike me as rather sugary. To be fair she is supposed to be fairly young at this point; Fan Li calls her a child but since he also thought she was a he I won't put too much stock in his words. ("But I thought I rescued a boy-child damn I don't like girls.")
Mom, who has finished series: *cheerfully* Oh it gets worse. Later she sits in the Wu palace moping all day (exact words 苦着脸 accompanied by a comical moue) but the Wu King still treats her like a treasure, dancing attendance like a monkey.
Me: Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo do not want. D:
Mom also says she's gorgeous when she really smiles, but I haven't seen it yet.
Episode 26 and The Feather Recitation approaches! So exciting.
