Oh, Let me be shallow and fluffy too. If you think Fan Li is lovely and tragic now, just wait until they all go back to Yue. But Jia Yiping really grows on you, doesn't he? After a while you'll be like me and think he's cat's pajamas in modern dress as well. It's rather embarrassing, since in China he has a legion of teeny-bopper fans.

I was all ho-hum, he's kinda cute isn't he, until that scene in the snow when suddenly HELLOOOOO GORGEOUS. I dunno, in modern dress he's kind of a sweet boy-next-door, nothing like the beauty he is in Woxin. But then I do like sweet boys-next-door. :D

Oh, in his modern roles he's not often the sweet boys-next-door. Of the two I saw he was either the Don Juan to Chen Daoming's repressed intellectual, or the cold-hearted and ambitious acolyte to Chen Daoming's mafioso past his prime. But in RL he does seem very sweet.

And meanwhile I can employ my time with babelfish and mandarin tools trying to make sense of what's up there. Which I have, ballpark, except for the thing with the bears and the bit about gazing on the ocean's soup in the last line (sic babelfish).

Yeah there really is a bear. "Oh great bear glimpsed in dreams" I suppose, with glimpse added in to make it flow.

湯 pronouced tang = soup; pronounced shang, as it is here, = frothing, torrential; characterising great flows of water.
