I'm astonished at own well you described the emotions I was reaching for. The whole piece was my attempt, however short, at toeing the line on which love sours and desire becomes a wound. Would you believe I wrote this partly after reading SS/HP slash fics? That's where the part on atonement comes from, as well as the scorning, contemptuous hatred, and the desire for peace. Easy to decide who's who, isn't it?
