Yagyuu doesn't know where Niou keeps getting banged up like this. Scrapes and bruises across his legs and arms, almost like the ones Kirihara bears, except that Niou's tennis isn't anywhere near as violent, as erratic, as dangerous as Kirihara's.
(Briefly, Yagyuu entertains the thought that Niou-kun is practicing for the future; but he knows Niou has better taste than that - doesn't he?)
Yagyuu knows enough about Niou to know that he won't get an answer even if he asks.
No. Niou wears his scars like the badges of courage they aren't, displaying them openly and proudly, and flitting away from Yagyuu with an odd grin when he attempts to patch Niou up.
It disconcerts Yagyuu, and frightens him in an odd way, too - just a little bit. But mostly, it just - just pisses him off.
When he mentions this in passing, the immediate query is "Why?"
Yagyuu stops in the middle of retying his shoelaces.
"Because it's selfish, Niou-kun," he replies after a moment of thought. "That's my body, too."
Niou grins and hands him his racket.
