Notes: Once again, part of the Mirantae universe. Takes place during Blindfolds, just before Heechul arrives home.
“Oh,” Heechul says. “Sungmin, it’s you.”
Sungmin only nods.
“Heechul,” he says. “What do you think of Siwon?” “I-“ He pauses. “Will you get me in trouble if I say something bad?”
“I swear to god I won’t,” Sungmin replies.
“He’s a fucking douchebag,” Heechul replies bluntly.
Sungmin winces. “I thought you’d say that.”
“You noticed too?”
Sungmin shrugs. “It....was kind of obvious, you know.”
Heechul thinks about it. “I guess you’re right. If even Jongwoon could notice it-“
“Even General Jongwoon noticed?” Sungmin asks, shocked. “He’s clueless.”
“Only about some things,” Heechul says. “He knows what he’s doing in war.”
“And in everything else?”
“He’s clueless.”
“Anyways,” Sungmin says. “I…just wanted to tell you sorry.”
“What for?” Heechul asks. “You didn’t do anything.”
“That’s the point,” Sungmin says. “I know you know that Siwon is an insensitive jerk.”
“He is,” Heechul agrees.
“And I’m sorry for not being able to stop him from being an idiot,” Sungmin says.
“It’s okay,” Heechul says. “It’s his loss.”
“But that’s why I haven’t left,” Sungmin says. “I know he does a lot of things and causes a lot of trouble, but that’s what I’m here for.”
“Damage control?” Heechul asks.
“Kind of,” Sungmin agrees. “Except I keep him kind of under control. Otherwise Entyrum would be completely gone by now.
“He’d really do that?” Heechul asks, shocked.
“Siwon at his worst,” Sungmin starts. He pauses, trying to think of an analogy. “It would be kind of like what happened with General Jongwoon and Amistarr, times…I don’t know. Five?”
Heechul whistles. Or tries to. (It sounds like the wind blowing through a tree’s branches, really.) “I’m glad you’re still here, Sungmin.”
“Yeah,” he says. “So sorry for not stopping him from being a douche to you.” He digs in his pocket, pulling out something on a chain. “Here.”
“What is it?” Heechul asks. He cups his hands, and the chain pools in it, surrounding a charm.
“The necklace Siwon took from you,” Sungmin tells him. “I took it back.”
“Won’t he get mad at you?” Heechul asks. He puts it on quickly, slipping it underneath his shirt.
“He’s probably forgotten about it already,” Sungmin says. He sighs. “He’s narrow-minded like that.”
Heechul grins at him. “Well, thank you anyways.” He picks up his bag again.
“So, this is time to say goodbye?” Sungmin asks.
“Yeah,” Heechul says. He gives the other lieutenant-general a one-armed hug. “Take care of yourself, Sungminnie.”
“You too,” Sungmin says. “You too.”
