Home theater surround on the cheap.

                So, due to a nice tax return prepared by yours truly, my hubby was able to afford a shiny new big screen LCD TV. That's so totally the idea my gf and I are pondering..combining our tax refunds and getting a big TV. :) She wants plasma but I keep telling her to just get an LCD.

KuddlKat found a nice deal on the TV. A Sceptre 46" LCD, had full 1080p resolution, costs about $900. Has a digital tuner, a VGA port, a bunch of HDMI ports, etc. Defalt brightness/contrast/color settings are kinda crap (and scare people off from buying it), but once you adjust it it looks great (perfect). Looks amazing as a PC monitor.
Oh, and pro-tip: I was able to get $125 more on my return by contribting $500 to a tax-deductible IRA (which I opened in one hour, no hastle, at Sharebuilder.com). That's $500 of my own that I still have, and $125 on top of that which I get to get back. The tool that calculates how much you can get back by contributing to an IRA is in Turbotax. I suggest you try to get access to this sort of calculation and try to figure your own numbers, too.
