I don't the amount of money you save on qualifying for medi-cal (verses alternative insurance / out-of-pocket expenses) is going to compare to the amount of rent (and other costs) you'd pay if you move out. Unless you want to move out.

But I like your baby steps! Have you looked into how Obamacare affects you?

Yay for real vet stuff! Yay for grown-up stuff! And now that there's the ACA/Obamacare, health insurance might even be affordable. :)
