A recap of recent adventures...

Last week, I performed in my first show as a full-fledged member of Synthetic Nightmare, whom I joined up with (or rather, was assimilated into) a few months ago. Apparently, we belong to a genre which mr_jaeger affectionately refers to as "power industrio alcoholism". Given some of our habits, I can't really dispute that.

Heh. Oddly enough, while I was talking to the Alter Der Ruine guys, I mentioned something to the effect of "Have you guys heard Uberbyte, from the UK? One of the members, Rikky, is friended to my LJ and has mentioned in several posts that he's digging your stuff quite a bit!", and they were like "That's really cool!". I can't remember specifics, but at some point we started talking about the Mexican industrial scene, as it was tangentially related to the topic at hand. In any case, I do remember that their reaction to the mention of Uberbyte was very positive.

I had never actually heard Alter Der Ruine until that point (and realized it, at least; one of the other DJs at a night where I spin mentioned that she plays them pretty regularly). Stylistically, Alter Der Ruine doesn't typify what I generally listen to, but I have to say that I rather like them.

funny that, we played with those two bands on march 7th. they were all a bunch of great guys. i got on real well with the guys in alter der ruine. they had to deal with louisville getting hit by a snow storm that was the worst of the winter. and some of those guys had never seen snow before!

After the show came the standard after-party shenanigans,

Puke buckets? On a Monday night? Didn't anyone have to work?

Luckily, I had the foresight to schedule 2 hours of leave ahead of time so that I could show up late with impunity. It was still a pretty miserable day, of course.

I think that a good portion of the people who showed up to the party work at clubs/bars (or more specifically, work at the 2 clubs in Richmond - owned by the same person - that the Richmond goth/industrial scene has become more or less centralized around; one of which being closed that night due to weather damages, and the second being the venue for the show)and don't generally have to worry about being up in the mornings.
