RB-LJ: Vampire Edition

Wherein:

Guillermo Del Toro discusses The Strain, his new vampire novel. (Hint: It's not anything like Twilight)

Park Chan-Wook's new film, Thirst, will be getting a limited US theatrical release on July 31, which is excellent news... if you happen to live in Los Angeles, San Fran, or NYC.

Del Torro co wrote it with another author.

Del Toro has a co-writer, Chuck Hogan, who I know nothing about.

Oldboy is my personal favorite of Park Chan-Wook's films so far. It is rather unsettling, however... and the ending has very disturbing implications.

I would suggest trying Lady Vengeance first (It has a slight Jean Pierre Jeunet feel to it, but much darker-humored). If you like that one, then try the rest of his 'Vengeance Trilogy' (Oldboy and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance). They can be seen in any sequence, as they are only related insomuch that each film is a different take on the theme of vengeance.
