yeah, i mean, you can introduce yourself with your real name, and then people can call you by your nickname if they want to.

i think kirsten only sounds hard, gross, and manly if people with that name are hard, gross, and manly, which you certainly do not need to worry about. look at kirsten dunst, it works for her.

I saw this cartoon when I was yonger about two little dutch kids and one's name was Kirsten and the boy was pig faced and fat and blonde and he opened the door and in a deep man/little boy voice he said "Allo "Kyrstonnne" and since then I've just though of big dutch men saying my name like that..

i think the name Kirsten is really pretty, but when i look at you i think Kat, you can go by both, when you meet new people just tell them your real name. regardless i dunno if i can make the change.
