Well, in case y'all forgot, I'm teaching Intro Bio this Fall and I just ran the scantrons thru the machine earlier thus evening and was dissapointed with the scores overall. A couple did quite well, but the others...not so much.

This leaves me feeling rather frustrated. They all seem mostly engaged when it comes to lab, but lecture for two hours ( Read more... )

My lecture sessions are long, and the courses are highly technical. The key to successful lectures is to remember that a classroom is part education, part theatre. You have to engage by being entertaining. If you're thinking it would be difficult to be entertaining in a biology lecture, I submit that I maintain a pretty high level of engagement in information security lectures. You are on stage. You need to perform.
