Endoscopy

Sep 12, 2007 07:46

Thanks Melis for the words of support. I don't remember ANYTHING about the procedure and the results were normal, they just are having me take a PPI twice a day now instead of once. If any of you ever have to have an endoscopy feel free to talk to me about it.

sorry! Proton Pump Inhibitor. It's the second tier of defense in controlling acid production in the stomach. It basically prevents your stomach from creating acid. I tried H2 blockers for a year (first tier of defense) and they didn't really help.

So glad you were at ease with it-I was nervous too but in the end everything was pretty easy.

What are they having you take?

Omeprazole 20mg delayed release capsules, was one in the morning 1/2 hr before breakfast, now I also take it in the evening 1/2 hr before dinner...things DEFINITELY got BETTER the day after I started taking this drug at the end of May, but they only got 40-60% better overall, we will see how things go with 2x a day doses.

i hope the PPI keeps working.

Is there any nutritional advice from your healthcare providers so you can work at helping your stomach with appropriate foods?
