Your post reminded me of that. I feel like an island in England... no one else recognises the "May 2-4 weekend" or Canada Day. I like hearing about other holidays that I didn't grow up with - if we're all islands, or at least those of us in the underappreciated countries, then we're not alone. If that makes sense.
