My family was a little bit like that. We actually didn't use the library that was ten minutes away from our house, because they wouldn't let kids get a card until they were in first grade, and we needed more cards so we could get more books! We used the library that was further away but let you have a card once you could write your name.

I wonder if they still have a limit on how many books you can get? Now I usually just get a few books or videos per visit, but I might go two or three times a week.
