Perhaps this is covered in one of your books, but that first pairing must have been interesting. How does a small primate overcome what must have been a natural fear of what was, in fact, a large fangy predator?
There's a question. As your vision of just what the treelings are has changed (sugar gliders are -small-, lemurs larger and so on,) how have you viewed the scale compairison between the two species? How large are the treelings, by your thinking?
And there's an interesting idea for a short story or novella down the road; the named/treeling relationship from the treeling's POV.
Anyway, I'm currently involved in a space-opera play-by-mail game with friends and others. It allows you to create your own race, and then build an empire. Been playing the game for the past four years now! You'll be amused to note that my race, the "Gosht Kohr," are a race of very large (near brontosaurian) hunting felines... with prehensil tails!

Haven't cats already domesticated the most useful primate of all? Considering I'm the one who gos to work and opens the cans of cat food while they spend all day alternately sleeping and wrestling with each other, I would say so ;)
