I think you can transfer your comments to DW as well. I didn't actually check, but I just backed my LJ a few days ago, and there was a box to check off to transfer comments.

Oh, yes, if you're backing up all your entries at once, it will import comments, too. I'm just not sure about cross-posted entries, once that's done.

Oh, that makes sense!

Too bad they can't come up with an "update" update, that transfers new stuff periodically.

You can just import your LJ again and it will update everything, including comments on crossposted entries.

Hey! So i am also worried about this since i help maintain the spn little bro com. I googled this and the Wikipedia says the Russian company , SUP Media bought LJ in 2007.

Have you heard something recent? Google just mentions the Russian media company purchase in 2007.

I have heard something recent, though I'll have to go dig up the link again. Basically although LJ was bought by Russians in 2007, many of their servers were still based in California, where they were subject to US law, and apparently going forward this will no longer be the case.

Thanks for the heads-up. Am backing everything up to DW right now. I've got an InsaneJournal mirror, but that doesn't include the comments (and I'd hate to lose those for comment meme fics!).

And I am hoping to be able to go to CONfabulation, because I so enjoyed WinCon! The probability that I'll be there is around 70%, but if I can find a roommate to split the hotel room cost with, that probability would shoot up to 100% :-)
