Protein looks to be a bit too high. I try not to go past 18%, at the most.

Second this. Merrick is a great dog food, but the protein content in this is too high.

icelore suggested only feeding a few pieces and more grains. Would doing that throw off the difference of high protein?

I honestly can't say for sure, I suppose it's worth a try. I don't know if it would unbalance the diet or not.

Considering that my young rats got Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul adult (24% protein).. and by the time they were 2 years old, my dog was 10 and we moved to the senior formula(22% protein).. everything was fine and I never had protein allergies.

Keep in mind, that there was alot more grain mix than dog food in their suebee mix, in addition to Mazuri (18% protein) lab blocks & human dinner leftovers.

To me, the ingredients look good, the price a bit high compared to wellness or chicken soup though.

The protein is a bit too high, but other then that, it looks great. Do you have boys or girls? If you keep does, I wouldn't worry about it at all, just reduce the ratio a bit and give them more grain to keep a balanced diet. If you keep bucks, you can try them out on it and see how they like it and if it causes them any issues. :)

It's a good food all in all, and if you can get it cheap, it might work out for you.
