I was wondering what to do with baby rats, because I was planning to get a FN. I wondered if modifying it with wire mesh (SS or powder-coated, since I wouldn't want to risk zinc poisoning from galvanized) or making a temporary baby cage would be better, and someone suggested a CN

Modifying the FN isn't that expensive, or it wasn't for me. I got about $30 worth of rolls of PVC-coated mesh from the gardening center of Home Depot, and then a big bag of zip-ties and went to town. It was a pain cutting the mesh and zipping it up, but it was marvelous after it was finished.

With the Critter Nations, I assume that if something arrives damaged, you can contact Midwest about it and have parts replaced for free, but I do still have a concern about how sturdy it is overall.

I got PVC hardware cloth from Home Depot and it cost me around $70-80. :\ I ended up not liking the modified FN anyway and now I'm selling it for a CN. Meh.

All the sites (Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.) I'm looking at online (sans shipping) are closer to 80 than 30 :/
