These guys weren't born this way. If they were 'zebra patchwork' they wouldn't have the same, clean cut, marking on both rats. If it was natural there should be variation.

I got more information this morning.

Evidently the girl who brought them in 'rescued' them from a lab. They came to the Petco in an unlabled lab container. One has a perfectly square patch of hair missing on his hind end. They both hate being touched so much so that they scream and flinch if they even think they might be touched.

The person taking care of them is not sure if they are stolen or if they were bought from the lab/ But the girl who relinquished them left only her name and no contact information.

Hi Our vet had adopted the boys but there was a conflicted with the family We adopted the 2 boys and have had them for 2 weeks going on 3 they are loving and sweet. Yes they are Zebra or Kalidascope rats. We have been in touch with the 3 major hairless breeders . No WAY !!!!! where they burned or created artifically. There is a breeder in Texas who,s is raiseing them. Let me make it completely clear there was never any chemical altertraions and i am sorry to say some people don,t know there rats If you have any questions about the boys I will gladly meet with or accept a phone call.
