First official comment on your LJ! (Friended ya back, in case you didn't notice yet.)
So, you're from Perth, yeah? (One of my favourite cities; we spent a week there last March OMG the love.) So what are you doing in Melbourne, yo? (Not that I don't also like Melbourne; we spent a few days there last March too; we only bugged out becase we timed things badly and the Commonwealth Games were coming.)
The truck we usually miss is the recycling truck. :)
It sorta depends on how you look at it. I've come to Melbourne from Perth because I was living in Perth last year for uni. But before that you could say I was originally from Geraldton, a small city about 5 hours' drive north of Perth - that's where our mail goes to - but 'home' was actually a farm near the small town of Northampton, which is where I went to school for 9 years and when I played sport I always played for the Northampton team (even though our actual games were in Geraldton 99% of the time). So it sort of depends on how you look at it.
In Melbourne for a variety of reasons, but the long of short of it is that I felt like doing it so I did. Only for a semester, then I'm back to Perth for uni.
I'm glad there's someone who's been to Perth! It's still my favourite city too, but Melbourne's growing on me. When I first came here I was a tourist and I actually didn't like it all that much. Now that I'm *living* here it makes all the difference for some reason. *shrugs*

Ah well, fair enough. Melbourne's a pretty nice place, IMHO, and you sure get a different sense of the country there than in Perth, which is so physically isolated from the rest of the country. (A bit like Vancouver, which is separated by an enormous bloody mountain range from the rest of Canada.)
Spent a week in Perth in 1994, too. Well, in Cottesloe really. Which was why we went back last year. *misses it even though it was ridiculously hot*
