Appearance:
Karin stands at around 5'3" and is slender in built. Her red hair is a bit unusual, half of it is shoulder-length and rather messy as if chopped haphazardly with a kunai while the other half is waist length, straight and neatly-combed. Her eyes are equally red and framed by glasses. It wasn't revealed if the glasses served a purpose or not.
As far as her outfit goes, it has a similar touch to those who work for Orochimaru but still different altogether: long-sleeved, purple top with a zipper that goes from the hem to the high collar, unzipped slightly and revealing her stomach. Matched with it are black shorts, black thigh-high tights and ninja sandals. And now that Team Taka is affiliated with the Akatsuki, she also wears the traditional black-and-red cloak of the group.

Personality:
Unique. Probably an appropriate word to not just describe Karin's abilities but also her personality which oftentimes fluctuates and differs depending on her mood and the situation that had honed it.
On one hand, loud and bossy and overbearing with a short and violent temper. First introduced as someone annoying, had a shitty attitude and difficult to get along with by Suigetsu. And on several occasions, Karin has proven just that. Baited by Suigetsu's provocations, she gets easily frustrated and that temper quickly gets to her, hitting the person responsible either in retaliation or just to prove that she's not one to take it without a fight. She's someone who is unafraid to yell and beat Suigetsu into submission or scold Sasuke for even considering his plans of revenge when he's clearly out of commission or restrain Juugo when his urge to kill rises to the surface. Always defiant and argumentative, never backing down, until Sasuke decides to intervene and promptly shoots her down.
On the other hand, serious, tough and in control of herself at times, an important asset to the team. She's extremely loyal to whoever she deems worth of her allegiance - or perhaps just someone who is in power - and clearly follows orders without question. She's pretty smart, quick to deduce the situation around her, as well as knowledgeable regarding different things, from Juugo's reason for approaching Orochimaru to the subject of the Jinchuuriki. Her ideas are also quite effective, such as to one leading off the group from Konoha, although questionable in one form or the other.
But while Karin was at first reluctant to give up her position in Orochimaru's base, refusing to release the prisoners, her loyalty quickly shifted from him to Sasuke in an instant which brings us to...
On those very rare occasions, there's a flirtatious side to Karin that only comes out whenever she's alone with Sasuke. Several times, she will try to come onto to the boy, often a comic relief in the midst of something so serious, only to be ignored, brushed off or completely, flatly dismissed. But her little crush [read: OBSESSION] over the Uchiha heir doesn't stop there. From collecting Sasuke's used sweat-drenched outfits to considering having her way with him when everyone's asleep, Karin's imagination can go a bit too far. But just like any other girl with a silly infatuation, Karin will deny the attraction with such vehemence despite it being obvious enough for Suigetsu to keep pointing out to, almost as if she's still embarrassed about it.

Strengths:
First and foremost, Karin was chosen both by Orochimaru and Sasuke for her abilities. Having been saved from certain death because of it, Orochimaru brought her back to Oto and had made her the warden of one of his bases [never mind that he experimented on her as well]. Sasuke also admitted Karin's abilities were rather unique and would prove useful to his plans - one that even Suigetsu agreed upon - despite the lapses in the personality department. So while it's not exactly apparent, seeing that she's very much annoying most of the time, Karin is rather strong.
One of her skills is the ability to detect chakra even from long distances or pick out individual ones from a large group of people, even feel the subtle differences or changes in them. This was the ability that saved her from being killed that day, detecting a large group of people coming towards her village and promptly hiding. Kakashi noted this ability, remarking that she must be a particularly excellent chakra-sensing ninja, as she sensed how many the Konoha group composed of, their distance as well as that one of them is not human.
Another one of her abilities is healing wherein she let others bite her to suck in her chakra as evidenced by the marks on her arms and neck and chest.
Also, being a shinobi - and someone picked up by Orochimaru at that, it's possible that Karin knows the basics in shinobi training. This one, however, has yet to be seen since most of her teammates readily jump in front of her when trouble arises.
Weaknesses:
Unlike the two other members of Taka, Karin doesn't exactly fight in the battles of her team. While it's possible that she's capable of fighting as well as knowing the basics in ninja training, she often seems to be left on the sidelines as the support member of their group, sensing chakra and pinpointing them for the group's convenience. And because of that, she's usually an open target for attacks, as shown during the fight with Killer Bee. She's not entirely helpless but she had to be pulled out of the line of fire twice both by Juugo and Sasuke.
Her healing ability is also limited as it seems to take a toll on her body whenever someone bites her. Not to mention that it is discouraged to be used when she's almost out of chakra.
Her short temper and inability to fight off Suigetsu's taunts can also pose as a problem as it can be both a distraction and just a magnet for more trouble.
