We got electricity restored yesterday and today I got cable and internet back, but we are in the vast minority. Most people in my area are still in the dark and go outside of our little island of light and it's positively eerie. I know that feeling! I just found out that my hair salon is open and I'll be able to keep my appointment tomorrow - really need that after the kind of week we've had.

I'm just paying it forward a bit. When we had our power knocked out last year with Hurricane Irene, we lost power for 8 days. My brother was there for me. We're just trying to help one another get by. If I can help someone by supplying them with hot water or a cup of coffee, that's the very least I can do.

I think that the fact that you're doing something to help those around you is awesome. Situations like this tend bring out either the worst or the best in people. It always makes me smile whenever I hear about people taking some time to do good.
