Went to visit my friends in Orange Co. NY today and we did a tour of some of the wineries in their area for some tastings. Found some really nice wines and came home with quite a few bottles. Got an absolutely lovely Reisling, a bottle of a delicious blush wine that is going to be perfect warm weather drinking, two different gorgeous red wines,  ( Read more... )

Oooh, that sounds wonderful. I've heard about the wineries out there and might have to schedule a trip that way one day.

Long Island has a ton of great wineries. Most are on the north fork of the island, but some of my favorites are in the south. One is called Duck Walk and they make an absolutely phenominal ice wine (as well as being very generous with the pours in the tasting room).

I'm dangerous whenever I travel somewhere with good wine. Brought back a bunch of bottles from Spain (all gone now - sob) and the less said about my last trip to Napa, the better. What's scarey is how fast I can go through it, especially if I'm entertaining at all.

Yes, you do need to get over here at some point *poke poke*.
