Okay, who of my readership has either seen Avatar or read a complete enough synopsis to know the complete story line? Of those, what has it done to your point of view about issues like the environment, the advance of technology, or anything else? Or was it just an entertaining film (or not ( Read more... )

It was a visually impressive film with a comic-book storyline. A little heavy-handed on the environmental and anti-war business. I felt the whole first half where the Human Boy learns to be a native was rushed (at like, 2 hours :P ) and the battle was just a variant on the Battle of Endor. Cameron does visual-pretty very well, but his dialogue (while not as bad as Lucas') sucks, and his handling of actors is adequate at best.

Like you I do not go to the show very little so I see what you are meaning .The last time I went was to see Star Trek .Maybe once a year if that .

Let's just say that "thought-provoking" are not words I would apply to this movie. One could think about the consequences of the premise, but then one would have to think about the plot, and that way lies madness.
