You should come to Evergreen. People experiment with everything you're talking about in this post. There is no "normal" here, and it makes things very interesting. A lot of my friends are gay, bi, or straight with very unique senses of fashion.
To elaborate, many guys have longer hair than many girls at Evergreen, and many girls have stylish short hair. I know a lot of them are straight, too. There's also a great freedom for "weird" clothes on campus, and quite a few drag balls which many students attend for fun. I'm not a very "girly" girl, myself, and find myself annoyed by long hair and jewelry that gets in the way of anything. I do, however, have a lot of fun thrifting and putting together crazy outfits. To each her (or his) own, I say!
I agree!! College campuses are great places to experiment with different ways of expressing yourself--including "gendered" ways of expression. I love how people are more open-minded in college. I also like the fact that I can dress down or dress up according to my whim. There are always plenty of other people who were sweatpants and baggy T-shirts on any given day...
