Politics, Abe Lincoln, and the Democratic National Convention

Yay! I'm all moved into my new apartment. It's BEAUTIFUL. My housemates and I got really lucky with our abundant windows and views of Pikes Peak. I really like the people I'm living with. I can't tell you how big of an improvement it is over last year's lonely and depressing dorm room. But right now I want to write a little about politics...

Oh, you go to Colorado College -- one of my classmates went there (um, in the dark ages, heh)...and yes, Pikes Peak is quite glorious! (I live in Golden, btw).

You live in Golden? I LOVE Golden! In middle and high school, I went to the School of Mines every year for the Science Olympiad competition. I was a huge nerd...Anyway, Golden is pretty, kind of like Pikes Peak. : ) So you're taking classes in Golden? What kinds?

Oh, I'm not taking classes ;) I'm almost 40 (hehe) and a SAHM who also writes. In fact, *whispers* I have ex-students your age, tee-hee. I taught for 9 years before I got married and had kiddos of my own. But we live in Golden -- I lived in Arvada when I was growing up, and went to CU Boulder for college :)

What's your major, btw?

Oh, whoops! I read your comment about a "classmate" as meaning that you were in school. : ) My mom was also a SAHM when my sibs and I were little. What's more, she and my dad went to CU Boulder for both undergrad and grad school. It's a small, small world! I sometimes catch myself thinking that nobody I meet on here is from Colorado. Well, I guess you just proved me wrong.

My major is English with an emphasis on creative writing. I also am doing a history minor.

My Dad (who lives in the US) says that Obama is a lot more popular in Europe than he is in America!

They LOVE Obama in Europe--especially in Germany, from the looks of things at the rally he hosted there. Where do you live?

I sort of split my time between the Netherlands and England! I think there's a tad more interest in Holland but that may just be because England is so insular anyway and tries its best to ignore the rest of the world when it can.
That rally in Germany was crazy!

You live in England and the Netherlands? Cool! I spent some time in England this summer and liked it a lot. : ) Soon I want to see the rest of Europe.

I feel bad for Europeans because you have to listen to TONS of news about America (on political stuff and so on). I can imagine that it would get old after awhile.
