Constant computer upgrades

Don't you hate how computer models get upgraded after you've bought a new one for yourself? This has happened twice for me. I guess the pace of technological change is so fast that upgrades will be almost constant. That's a good thing. Just think about what we'll be able to do in a decade's time. Still, it stinks to spend thousands of dollars only ( Read more... )

I'm the same way with computers. My brother got his laptop two years after I got mine, and for pretty much the same price, he got three times as much hard drive space and a lot of other stuff.

Yeah, for awhile my little brother had a MUCH better computer than I did. I couldn't tolerate it. : )

I just use the same laptop I use for everything else, lol. School, movies, games, internet, my book - it's all on this machine.

Ha, I guess I need to rephrase the question. : ) It's not like you'd use different computers for different tasks. Unless you're a hard-core techie or something.

I need to clear off some space on my computer. I have 30,000 photos on there...*groan*

Oh yes, I do, and it's completely irrational. I bought an iMac last year, and love it to bits, and I have a laptop, but my Dad came home with a MacBook Pro from work a few weeks ago and I can't help but drool over it. Mind, he got that and it's not one of the new ones, so it makes me laugh.
But my sister got the newer iMac, so I'm jealous of her.

And I finally had enough to fork out for Adobe CS3, and they've just brought out Adobe CS4! Grr!

I love what you've said about the videos on the Apple website- I've never watched them, but it's hilarious to think that they're trying to make the computers look really sexy. Not that they need to, really, because if there's one thing Apple does really well it's totally gorgeous machines.

Yeah, the Apple videos are pretty funny. There's one that zooms in and goes along the edge of the laptop. Oooh, shiny. For one of the old iMacs, they showed it slowly rising up out of a hole in the floor. My dad and I laughed so hard. I love the way Macs look.

CS4 is out? Oh, god! Now I'm mad about that too! I have CS3 as well. But the good thing about Photoshop is that the new features are just layered onto the old ones. They're never completely overhauled--not that i know of, anyway.

I think I'm probably better off with my "old" MacBook Pro. The new ones only come with glossy screens, which aren't as good for looking at photos. I'm gonna try to suck it up and use this laptop for as long as possible.

iMacs are just awesome no matter what version they are. I saw one of the old colored ones in the thrift store the other day. : )

I've decided not to be worried about CS3, now, since
I don't know all the gadgets and functions anyway,
so I can play with this one and learn it properly.

Haha, I'm sort of the opposite. I keep thinking that it's not that bad if my laptop breaks, because that's an excuse to buy a new MacBook Pro.

Oh, those coloured ones were cool! They look so dated, now, but they are still pretty.
What I'm really after now, speaking of colours, is one of the chrome-coloured nanos. They are just stunning. And they set them up in a rainbow at the shops. *Drools*

I have fond memories of those old colored iMacs. When they first came out, I was in middle school--or maybe fifth grade. I wanted one so badly. I would've gotten the green one, I think. : )

Ha, maybe I wouldn't be all that sad if my laptop broke, either. Just an excuse for an upgrade. And I know what you mean about learning everything in CS3. There are so many features, it's gonna take me forever to master them. What do you use CS3 for?

I love the new iPod nanos. I have an older Nano in lime green. I like it, but if I could buy a new one, I'd get purple. I think the bottom line is that I like bright colors.
