Trees

I went on an amazing nature hike yesterday, and I suddenly realized how beautiful trees are. Stupid, I know. But it's true. They're enormous plants that make a sheltered habitat for us, and they grow for hundreds of years. Seeing as I was raised in a town called Woodland Park, they've been an important part of my life. Mmm, I love the smell of ponderosa pines. I always think of it as a kind of orange-spice scent, sometimes vanilla. They smell different depending on where they're growing, right?

In Olympia, moss covers all the trees. I just jotted down a description for future writing use: "Pelts of moss and plumage of ferns on the trees." :)

Hello, cousin-of-ravelda...

The oak trees here are shaped like hands (and right now, they're dripping with Spanish moss). When it rains, their branches are furred with resurrection ferns. We used to have a crooked coconut palm until a hurricane flattened it. That's okay with me. I hate palm trees....
