grrrrrr....

I came home yesterday, after a long tiring day at work, with nothing more on my mind than staying in, working on a couple of paintings, and then turning in early. Unfortunately, fate had other plans... I came home to find my apartment a total disaster area and my roommate in the midst of packing up all his shit.

Ok, so it wasn't a total surprise. He'd told me a week ago that his reserve unit was going to be activated and he wanted to know if, while he is away, his girlfriend could bring by $200/month to cover then rent. Not a problem, except that his share of the rent is actually $310 (plus half utilities.) I mean I've got nothing but respect for him, serving his country and all that, but I'm also not rich. I told him I could probably do that for a month, two at the most, but I can't handle going over $100 out of pocket every month for long. So that was the end of the conversation. I figured he'd try and see what he could work out or at least give me some notice, but apparently that was too much to ask. Grrrr... people really suck sometimes.

Anyway, the one good thing to come out of last evening was that I got to have a great time hanging out with my friends down at the Decatur. I just stopped by the disaster area long enough to take a shower and change, and then headed over to my favorite drinking hole. I really love that place and the people who hang out there. I swear sometimes its the only thing that helps me maintain my slim grasp on sanity... ok, well at least maintain my delusion that I still have that slim grasp. =)
