Did some learnin in sound fx today.  My teacher told me about this sound effect which is the most overused sound effect ever and now has a bit of a cult following.  It's called the Wilhelm Scream.

He has used it in his latest film, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel as a sort of geeky homage.

Omg, I think I know the scream you mean! (can't watch because I'm at work) Keith can spot it amongst hundreds of other voices, he's a SFX nerd *_*

I randomly came across the wikipedia article a few years ago and I was so proud when it came up on QI and I got it right :D
