It is a cold, cold morning. I am slowly getting over antibiotics and a couple of stressful days. There is a fairly heavy weight of worries at the moment. It is so difficult to accept that I have no real control over practical elements of my life and future...and because the future never goes away, the pressure is fairly constant ( Read more... )

You mean to say that your work doesn't encourage cartoons of tori amos in orange knickers? Do they, by any chance, have a suggestion box?

The Harold line, heck, the whole Neighbours 'downer' twist is really getting to me. I watch Australian soap opera's because they are light hearted, fun, someone looses an arm one day they are playing tennis with their prosthesis the next. They have always been totally unrealistic and joyous. If I wanted to watch something where a new groom dies, mother to be develops cancer, a whole family is killed in an air crash, the father goes insane and tries to kill someone, I would watch that wretched East Enders. Same with Home and Away, all gone negative. *sigh* My last bastions of unreality, gone.

As for you young man... what can I say, besides, I think you are amazing. Your life is at best complicated, and you have to deal with and think about so much, don't knock yourself for feeling overwhelmed, how could you not? Much love. And good for you on the continuous learning path.

If I can ever do anything, seriously, let me know, ok?

I don't mind the downer twist in Neighbours in that, as dark as they go, they can't ever seem to make it realistic. It took 20 minutes for that plane to go down! 20 minutes! I can't help but think they've got someone in to write episodes who've read about as much Greek tragedy as I have. Just you wait, I'm thinking Stingray will sleep with his mother and kill his father in upcoming weeks. Oscar will be served up to Lynn in a pie by Paul, and Summer will murder Steph, who has just done away with Max because she's having an affair with an imaginary Dru. And relax....

I think we will have to launch our own soap where it never rains, no one ever dies (they just move to the next street) and everyone loves everyone else.

Hang in there. :)

You keep alluding to this "life detached from the physical". I don't know quite what the nature of your condition is, and I have to confess there's some part of me that enjoys trying to piece it together from the hints you give now and then. On the other hand, sometimes I think I ought to ask you outright (if I can do so without prying), just so I can have a better understanding of where you're coming from...

In other news, after this week I should finally have some time to start on your commission - which I'm very much looking forward to!

Due to problems with docs and other people, I often don't talk specifics about illness. I do have a health filter, but haven't used it very much (I'd be happy to add you to it, however, if you really fancy such nastiness in your friends list). I've had fairly severe ME (Myalgic Encephelomyalitis) for coming up to 12 years. Major symptoms are pain and fatigue, both of which get much worse after very little activity. So my college work (which is done over the net and very much part time) is pretty much all I am capable of doing. My physical life is fairly limited...I travel with my computer...learn with it...socialise with it.

So...it's nothing that will kill me...but also therefore something which is easy to dismiss and misdiagnose. Docs are difficult and people's attitudes have left me feeling...hmmm...sort of ashamed of it. Hence not talking specifics.

So...not much of a mystery...I'm afraid I am, if anything, deathly boring.

I'm glad you're going to have a bit more time...how are you feeling now?

HA! AUSTRALIAN SOAP OPERA.

Erm...sorry, I find the strangest things amusing.

Hang in there. May the force be with you. And may the ewoks never find you, because they honestly scare me. They aren't cute! They're possessed-looking!

Indeed they are the strangest of things...and often quite amusing.

You're just too young to have been influenced by the ewok cartoon...it makes a huge difference when you've been bought up with them in animated form :P
