Things have been pretty hectic for a supposed summer vacation. Of course, most of my time is devoted to Ariel. We are currently potty training. She is three and a half so there is no reason why she can't. I wasn't wanting to rush things, but now that James is going back to school she has to go to preschool. She will be going to the on-site ( Read more... )

Well, at least you're making progress on your writing. I've abandoned my fantasy story and I'm going for something more realistic now. I find that the male charaters I write tend to echo my version of Snape -- which could be good or could be bad. I dunno.

Ugh. Don't even get me started on financial aid. I hate the office at my school. They suck.

And good luck with the potty training. That can be quite the adventure - but then, you already know that - duh, Annette.

I hope you get your loans upped and find either work or get the loans. And, send my congratulaions to James for going back to school. That isn't always an easy transition to make at all.

I won't be on YIM for a while as I have deadlines for ficexchanges and I am writing and editing and sporking myself in the eye for signing up for so much stuff. Next week will be better for chatting. Will you be around?

Talk to you later Katie.

annette::slytherin just plain Annette - I've been Sorting at hogwarts_elite too much today!

I changed directions in my writing(like I have in academics) many times before my characters came to life. I always knew that my main character was female. My male characters do tend to be a little less dynamic, but that will hopefully be changing with the ones I'm working on now. Most of my characters have their basis in real people. Snape is like a chemistry teacher JKR once had, so it's the same thing. The mean teacher or the seemingly cruel man who is really watching out for the protaganist (or the untouchable, dark man with sex appeal) are almost archetypal. Snape is such a compex character you could branch out into many different characters based on the character's choices(good versus evil...).

Yes, I'll be on next week. My goal is to write more and sleep less!
