i think this is key...i dont have enough time to formulate a real response...just a question...do you envision a...club kinda thing or an actual funded coalition?

I think the first step is to find the people out there who are currently working on this issue. Liberal think tanks are starting to develop (per the article that started this whole conversation, I think from gentlescholar but I could be wrong). Find them, find out what they are doing and how you can help. Volunteer with the Kerry campaign to learn the ins and outs of how it all works (even if you don't agree with him completely) or another campaign at a more local level. I agree with navrins - you need to work *with* the democratic party. It does no good if the people you are trying to affect aren't listening.

From the northwest coast. I am looking for ways to make a difference, as I certainly hate the status quo. I would love to take action. I feel that what I've done so far isn't effective.
