After a conversation about StarTrek in which I admit I've never watched the show.

Coworker: "You're not nerdy enough to work at a computer company."
Me: "I know!"
Coworker: "If it wasn't for your breasts, I don't know how you'd get things done at work."
Me (laughing): "I know! Can you imagine what would happen if they started shrinking?!"

There are days, where out of nowhere, I am overwhelmed by the loss of my mom. It's as if I was sucker-punched in the gut by life.

I recently returned from our annual get-away to Lakeside, OH. It was everything I could have dreamed of and more. The kids got along with each other, I got to watch fun movies, I caught up on my reading, enjoyed the sun for hours at a time, and ate gelato. All in all a great vacation. I made banana muffins last night and brought them into work. One of my coworkers only took half a muffin and came back 2 minutes later to get the other half of the muffin because he loved them. Great start to the week.

Am I the only one who gets a strange satisfaction from looking at whatever area I've just cleaned? And not just a strange satisfaction - I feel incredibly happy every time I look at said area. Sometimes I open the refrigerator just to admire the gleam of the (now) clear glass in the light. Or I may find a stray piece of hair in the bathroom that ( Read more... )
