Well, I'm full of useless questions.Blame the spare time So heres something else I've been rather curious about.

What sanzo-ish powers can we assume Ukoku has?

And really now, does Genjyo have any sanzo powers at all?I mean he uses that little gun a hell of alot... I mean is Minekura-sensei actually saying that in like 11-12 years all Kouryuu

Well, if you remember in the Sanzo flashback bits in volumbe 2 of the manga, they said that even at 13 he was really great at spells and martial arts, so obviously he's got those skills, and I bet he's honed them even more over the years. (And he also seems to be able to talk to bears. What the hell was with that?) We see the magic bit when he writes all that stuff on Goku so he can get into Kami-sama's place. And as far as the martial arts goes... anyone that's seen the scans of September's Zero-Sum know exactly what I'm talking about XD.

And Ukoku... well, he's got to have some really mega badass skills, given how much magical power he had before he was a Sanzo. But other than cutting people up with his mind and having some kind of control over crows? I don't know. I hope Sanzo has enough power to match it, because I'm pretty sure they're going to have a showdown at Houtou Castle.

Oh, and the "eye candy" bit - Shuuei totally had the hots for him. Pretty creepy if you ask me.

Well, see, that's kind of hard to answer. Mainly because I'm not even sure what you mean by "Sanzo powers." Are you implying that they're all these highly powerful beings with all this magic and blah blah blah? Because if that's the case, then you really don't see any of them exercising such a power. Their only known power is the ability to use their sutra

I actually can't see the images, but I can address the rest of that... at least, I hope I can. Anyhow, after seeing what Ukoku did to Goudai (which again, was something he knew even before becoming a Sanzo priest and no doubt studied on his own, as nobody would've taught him something so destructive), and knowing that Kami-sama is Ukoku's apprentice, it's no wonder that he can do what he did to the Sanzo party.

If all of what Kami-sama said was true, it's basically all just a testament to Ukoku Sanzo's power, but again, I don't think these are things he learned as a Sanzo priest, and go above and beyond the level of spells that the others may have learned.

Anou, sanzo priest do seem to learn some spells though, like what Koumyou did to Kouryuu -um should be the first pic I think-. But then we don't see Genjyo ever useing that power on anyone. Then again he does face alot of weak youkai not worth his time, but I think there are the times that he loses his gun and he doesn't do anything but um...squirm and run. You'd think if he learned at least some basic spells he'd use that when his gun is gone, but he doesn't.

Hmmm... it does mention in one of the Kouryu flashbacks that he is a master of the buddhist magic, or something like that, doesn't it? That implies that he learned some magic-y stuff... Though we've never really seen him using it. I think that Sanzo might be a bit too down to earth to get caught up in lots of magical doodahs...

Ukoku on the other hand...

Yeah, people have said a lot so I'm just gonna mention that I have a high suspicion that he can teleport. He appears and reappears in Kami-sama's castle... with Hazel... He pretty much just shows up at random.

I wouldn't put anything past Ukoku, really... He is pretty dang scary and everything he gave Kami-sama was just cast off toys... And Kami-sama nearly crushed the entire Sanzo party...

I think it is safe to assume that Koumyou is pretty dang powerful too, just by sheer virtue of him owning two scriptures for a while.

-agrees with hksherra- I think Minekura-sensei did the kami-sama thing to say "These are Ukoku's useless toys, just think how powerful he is!". She likes Ukoku a hell of alot, she even admited that was her favorite character. Assumeing his as fast as kami-sama or faster, and can slice people with out even chanting...well.. that makes him super fast and super powerful, not to mention super smart

In vol. 2 they at least insinuate that he's better with magic than any of the monks at the temple (except for Koumyou, of course). And he sticks out his tongue at Shuuei, which is OMG sooo cute! :D

Not that he's better then all the rest, just good for his age. The tongue thing is cute though.

I think it meant more along the lines of just acting rude the adults and getting away with it because he's slightly more priviledged (sp?)
