Random question about the guy in my icon!

Is Ukoku/Nii right or left-handed? Does anyone know?

XD It's not a big or deep question... but I was drawing Kenyu writing then realized I had drawn him as a lefty... then wondered if he really was a lefty... or a righty! Or maybe he's ambidextrous! That sounds like something that Ukoku would be...

I don't know if it's actually been stated. I'd guess left-handed, though, based on a couple things from his Burial chapter. First, when Koumyou first sees Kenyuu he's copying sutras (or rather, porn. XD)--we don't actually get to see him writing, but when he holds up his brush it's in his left hand. Second, the next time Koumyou sees Kenyuu he's sweeping the grounds. He's holding the broom with his right hand at the top of the handle and his left hand further down the handle. I'm a righty, and I hold a broom with my hands in the exact opposite configuration--my left hand at the top of the broom handle to steady it and my right down towards the middle to direct it. It seems more natural to use your dominant hand to do the finer work of directing the broom where you want it to go and to provide the pushing power and your other hand to steady it and work as the fulcrum of the lever.

So, that's my theory. XD

Thanks! My subconscious mind drawing him as a lefty had something right! ^^ Which sounds like some sort of unintentional pun...

*digs* He is indeed holding the brush left-handed in the Burial chapter. Which pretty much is the proof, I suppose. *chuckle*

He switches hands when smoking, picking things up, drinking, etc., but I switch hands when smoking too, so that doesn't mean anything, probably.

The biggest evidence against it is in Tank 9, he's show with his watch on the left, and most people wear theirs on the non-dominant hand. So I wouldn't put it past him to be ambidextrous.

Anime RELOAD shows him writing with his right, but anime is less canon, of course.

The moral of this story is HE'S NII AND CAN USE WHICHEVER HAND HE LIKES.

(You know if you asked him, he'd just tell you he's good this his hands.)

First thing... Icon love! XDD So true... so true...

And thanks for the research! o.o Did you just happen to notice him writing in the anime, or did you find a pic of it? I'm amazed by your power of observation! I never remember small things like that..
