... is really difficult. I've searched the Red White & Blue, and obviously need to search more thrift stores. All I'm looking for is a solid black wool jacket, single breasted. Not a tuxedo jacket. No pinstripes or patterns. I don't even care if it's huge, as I could get it tailored. Any I've seen that fit this description on Ebay are really ( Read more... )

The hubs is a 35 S in jackets. The only place we ever had any luck was at Mens Wearhouse, having them special order the size in the style he wanted.

Have you tried the vintage section of ebay? Shoulders can be narrower in older clothing.

Boxy, older women's jackets might be your best bet. Jackets that are long and come over the hips with boxy shoulders (you can always remove the shoulder pads if necessary).

I really really really like that first jacket :)

And there IS always special ordering.

Hrm. Wonder if boxy will work on me. I guess so, as my shoulders are already square.

Which jacket? The one I usually end up wearing probably. I love it! I did find a new favorite, a nice wool and my favorite shade of green.

Well, they become a bit LESS boxy if you take the shoulder pads out (because they, inevitably, have them), but I mainly said go for boxy because they'll typically be longer instead of cropped, and they'll be less girly/frilly.

And I want to see this green jacket!
