Having seen some of your earlier drafts of this piece, I find myself wondering why you dropped the effects on the background? The crispness & perspective of the background was my favorite part of the piece.
Ayame's tale is a sad one. She lost her love, and has only this stone to remind her of him. Sadly, this stone is very painful to her. I felt that the image needed to be veiwed through teared up eyes, that distort the light.
Also, I found that the sharpness of the background made you loose focus of the main image. Ayame. That is why the image was more distorted in the end.
I think having the background distorted also gives a very strong surreal feeling. Almost as if you are peeking inon a private moment. Maybe I feel this way because I have seen the character.
Anywho, as always a wonderful job! Are you planning on making all the characters or did Ayame just jump out at you?
