I am making this entry public, so I can open a support request

I have two issues, one that someone else brought up first. However many entries you get on your flist page, that is all you get. There is no more link to get to earlier posts. I would have gone to the lj update entry to see if this is an issue, but I CANNOT GET BACK TO IT ( Read more... )

Here's what I see when I go to your journal:

*!!* I can SEE the link in your screen capture of my journal, but I cannot see it on my friends page. When I go to my journal (recent entries) like you did, the link is still there. I can only go backwards to my own entries, but not those on my friends list. I have it set for 30 entries I think.

On your friends page I see a link that says "Previous 40."

You should be able to get to the entry, by going to your calendar view. View by subject, if you're not sure when it was. Also, each entry should have "previous" and "next" links.

I can only use that to get back to MY entries, that is not the issue, I cannot get to my friends list entries, the previous button is not showing up on my view of my friends list. I can go to each friends journal and get to their prior entries that way, but I noticed a couple of months ago (and actually noticed it in YOUR journal) that in some journals, when I am viewing from their journal, the reply button/link is not available. I can only comment to your entries from my friends page.

Another friend just reported, "I tried to change my password on LJ and got locked out. They claimed I used the wrong link (yeah, the one they sent to my e-mail) and that they couldn't complete my request."

He's worried that he will have to abandon his journal.

I am seeing a LOT of screw ups since this latest LJ update. I wish I could get back to that journal entry to see if it is a known issue.

I'd like to simply go back to my first entry that I ever made on LJ and started reading them.
I don't know how to do that though...

I think certain things are broken in certain types of journals, but not in others. The way that I would do what you are requesting in my journal is through my calender view. I go back to the first year, and every day of each month that I made an entry, the calender date is a link that I can click on to get to the entry.

I started doing that. Got back to 2007 which is when I joined LJ.

In the header of your comments or profile view, click on "Journal" and under that, click on "Calendar".

Click on this link: http://ravenfeather.livejournal.com/friends. I use the old style friends page rather than the new "feed". I see on the left just above the green date bar on your first friends entry a "<< Previous 40" link. If your friends feed page is "http://ravenfeather.livejournal.com/feed", which I suspect it is, you won't see that link. By scrolling down, more entries will automatically be loaded.

That is the problem (it is the second feed page btw) it will not load any beyond the twenty I have it set at.

I'm not sure I'm following you. I think you're saying you're using the new "feed" version. If so, there's no setting for the number of entries per page, as it automatically loads new ones as you scroll down to the bottom of the page, so you eventually end up with one VERY long page with a ton of entries. I'm not sure how far back you can go, but I suspect there's a limit. If you're using the "feed" version and it DOESN'T automatically add new entries when you get to the bottom, then you have a problem of some sort.

I have a problem of some sort. It only gives me 20, and does not keep on loading. I did not notice it until someone else on my flist complained t hat she could not see many posts on her flist.

I don't think my original comment to you will be of help with this issue so I'm going to say that I see the same thing as Kevin when I go to YOUR friend's page...the "previous 40" is at the top center as always. Why YOU can't see it is beyond my scope of understanding about these things. If we can see it why can't you?
:/

Oh...and there's a lock on this entry so it's not public! Did you lock it after all?

Thank you for pointing out the lock issue. I did click on public when i posted, but apparently it did not take. Bandicoot has pointed out that there are two different links to get our friends feed from (old and new??? I have no idea - there have been so many damn versions that I don't know where I am at there) but the one that comes up on my friends page automatically is the one that is broken. It is supposed to load more entries automatically I am told, but it is not loading.

It must be a glitch...so, you were using the "new" friends feed? It seems Carilyn has the same glitch happening to her friends feed. Have you tried to switch to the older url to get to the old style friend's feed?
I hope somebody provides an answer. Wish I could take a look at it in person. I'm not good at remote help with techie stuff. Hands on, I'm better.

They have coded the request as "answered" because half of it was resolved - the comments page is disabled due to problems. I am thinking the feed ending in /feed is the problem.
